How can we creatively respond to the experience of living in a regime characterised by surveillance capitalism, zombie neoliberalism, and “post-truth”? This talk explores various responses or interventions, including vernacular critiques such as conspiracy theories, LARPs, and psyop realist memes; theoretical concepts such as opacity and immediacy; and aesthetic experiments. The Latin root of conspiracy (conspirare) means to breathe together. What opportunities are there left for radical forms of community and confluence online today that don’t rely on nostalgia?
