About the exhibition:

The DOKU Trilogy (2018–2025) by Lu Yang explores the dissolution of the self within digital, biological, and spiritual systems and comprises DOKU: Digital Alaya (2021), DOKU: the Self (2022), and DOKU: the Flow (2024). The artist combines video game aesthetics, motion capture technology, and Buddhist philosophy to question identity when consciousness is represented and reproduced. At its core is an avatar based on her own appearance, moving through multiple realities and presenting the self as a shifting network of data and impressions. The DOKU avatar is recognizable yet not tied to a single body, embodying continuous circulation.
