THOMAS DEKEYSER

Thomas Dekeyser is a cultural and digital geographer at the University of Southampton whose research and films examine the shifting coordinates of power and resistance in changing digital and urban environments. His interests include: What are the new forms of power and governance emerging alongside new technologies? And which citizen-led, activist, artistic, and everyday forms of refusal are taking hold in response? His first monograph, Techno-Negative: A Long History of Refusing the Machine, is forthcoming with University of Minnesota Press (March 2026), and his first documentary feature, focusing on the 1980s computer bombers, is titled Machines in Flames. His new research project investigates the politics of refusal within an era increasingly saturated with artificial intelligence infrastructures, models, and applications.
